Terms of use

Using it

You need an account, created by an adult, with a working email address. Keep your sign-in to yourself — anyone with access to your email can reach your account.

Kinnected is free. There is no subscription, no trial, and nothing to cancel.

What you put in it

Your photos, posts, and messages remain yours. Putting them on Kinnected gives no ownership to anyone else; it only stores and shows them to the family members connected to your tree, so that the site can do its job.

Only add what you have the right to add. Photographs of other people, especially of children and of relatives who have died, deserve the same care you would want for your own.

What not to do

Whoever runs this Kinnected instance can remove content or accounts that break these rules. In a family, that conversation should happen before the delete button does.

What this is not

Kinnected is not a backup service, an archive, or a system of record. It is maintained by one person in their spare time, on hosting that can fail. It can go down, lose data, or stop existing.

Keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable. The Export button on the family tree page exists for exactly this, and using it now and then is the single best thing you can do to protect the memories stored here.

No warranty

Kinnected is provided as it is, with no guarantee that it will work, stay available, or keep your data intact. Nobody involved in running it is liable for loss or damage arising from using it. Where local law grants you rights that cannot be waived, those rights still apply — this paragraph doesn't override them.

Leaving

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account. Export first if you want to keep anything. Deletion is described in more detail on the Privacy page.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes, and anything meaningful will be announced in the app rather than quietly edited in.
